This generator features a unique construction where the spindle and rotor are arranged in a disc-shaped stack. The stator is fixed at the center, while the rotor rotates on both sides of the stator. Notably, the spindle contains only windings and does not include an iron core, distinguishing it from conventional generators.
Both the stator and rotor are constructed as flat discs, utilizing axial air gap magnetic flux. These components are arranged alternately along the axial direction. Thanks to its design, which boasts a short axial length but a large disc diameter, this generator is capable of adopting a multi-pole structure easily. This results in several advantages, such as a high power-to-mass ratio, the ability to operate effectively at low speeds, and quick start-up at low wind speeds.

Conversely, in the inner rotor variant, the casing does not move, the shaft rotates, and the cable is routed outside the casing.
