The GREEF NEW ENERGY GDG series features a disc type permanent magnet generator designed without an iron core. This unique generator consists of a spindle and rotor that are arranged in a disc shape. The stator is fixed at the center, while the rotor rotates on both sides of the stator. Notably, the spindle contains only windings and does not include an iron core.
Both the stator and rotor are constructed in a flat disc structure, employing axial air gap magnetic flux. They are alternately positioned along the axial direction. Thanks to the generator’s short axial length combined with a large diameter, it easily supports a multi-pole configuration. This design results in a high power-to-weight ratio, allowing the generator to operate efficiently at low speeds and start at low wind velocities.
The compact size, low energy consumption, lightweight, and robust structure of the GDG series contribute to its high efficiency and overall performance. These characteristics make it an ideal choice for direct-drive vertical axis wind turbines. Since the rotor is mounted on the vertical axis, the generator experiences minimal resistance to wind, enhancing its operational reliability and effectiveness.
The GDG series disc type permanent magnet generators come in two variations: outer rotor and inner rotor. In the outer rotor model, the casing remains stationary while the shaft rotates, and the electrical cables are routed through the center of the shaft. Conversely, the inner rotor model features a rotating shaft with a fixed casing, and the cables are discharged outside the casing.
The absence of hysteresis and gear notches effects results in an extremely low starting torque, measuring less than 0.1 N·m. This technology ensures smooth and efficient startup performance.
By eliminating the core, mechanical resistance and energy losses are significantly reduced. The implementation of the “Precise Coil” technology further enhances efficiency.
Utilizing rare earth permanent magnets with multiple poles and a small air gap, this design achieves high power density and delivers substantial output power.
The gearless direct drive system, combined with a brushless design, eliminates the need for maintenance, improving reliability and reducing operational costs.
The special structural design enables a larger power-to-volume and power-to-weight ratio. This results in a lifespan that is eight times longer compared to traditional generators.
This technology allows for higher efficiency utilization of wind turbines even in low wind speed conditions, maximizing energy production.
An aluminum alloy outer frame along with a specially designed internal structure provides excellent heat dissipation, ensuring stable operation and longevity of the equipment.

Axial flux coreless generators demonstrate significant potential in the field of wind power generation. They are particularly advantageous in megawatt-class wind turbines, where their design helps to greatly enhance the output density. This improvement directly contributes to increased efficiency in harnessing wind energy.
One of the key benefits of these generators is the elimination of the iron core, which reduces both iron losses and hysteresis losses. As a result, the overall efficiency of the generator is improved, making it a superior choice for wind power applications.
Beyond wind power, axial flux coreless generators find extensive use in various renewable energy systems including solar power setups. Their capability to convert energy efficiently coupled with their reliable operational characteristics makes them highly suitable for renewable energy generation.
Apart from renewable energy, these generators are applicable in a broad range of industrial settings where there is a demand for power sources that are efficient, lightweight, and dependable. For instance, they serve as backup or auxiliary power supplies, ensuring stable and uninterrupted power to critical industrial equipment.
The flexible construction of axial flux coreless generators allows for customization to meet specific client requirements. Parameters such as power output, operating speed, and voltage can be tailored to suit diverse application scenarios, making these generators highly versatile and adaptable.
