The fundamental concept behind a permanent magnet generator involves the rotor containing permanent magnet materials, which create a steady magnetic field. This magnetic field remains constant as it is produced by the permanent magnets embedded in the rotor.

When an external power source, such as a wind turbine, water turbine, or engine, causes the rotor to spin, the magnetic field rotates accordingly. This rotating magnetic field passes through the stator windings, which consist of conductive coils fixed in place.

Based on the law of electromagnetic induction, the movement of the magnetic field relative to the stator coils induces an electromotive force within these windings. When a load or an external electrical circuit is connected to the generator, this induced voltage allows electrical power to flow out of the generator and into the circuit.
